A Question of Evidence

Assessment Case Studies from the Literacy and Numeracy Programme

'A Question of Evidence' is a powerful new professional development resource for adult language, literacy and numeracy educators, and Literacy and Numeracy Programme providers.
It is designed for use within workshops or small groups.

The video is structured around case studies that illuminate three different types of assessment: - initial - formative - summative.

Case Study 1 Initial Assessment
Shows an interview between an assessor and a potential student, at a community based provider in semi rural Victoria. Includes consideration of how to interpret results using NRS. Supplemented by commentary from an independent verifier about the sort of evidence that assessors need to provide.

Case Study 2 Formative Assessment
We see a writing class in action in a city institution. The students are learning how to produce procedural texts. The teacher later reflects on her strategies for assessing and monitoring the progress of students on an ongoing basis.

Case Study 3 Summative Assessment - The Portfolio Approach
We re-visit the community based provider where the student from Case Study 1 has now reached the end of the course. His teachers discuss why and how they are beginning to use a student portfolio as a way of showing evidence of his learning.

The kit includes a 40 minute video and a 24 page facilitator booklet.

Price: AUD$95.00 Including GST and Australia-wide postage.

All programs now available on DVD.
